Terms of use
The terms governing your use of CheckGP, including important disclaimers about the directory.
Effective from: 2 June 2026
Last updated: 2 June 2026
Version: 1.0
Introduction
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of checkgp.co.uk and checkgp.com (“CheckGP”). Please read them carefully. By using the site you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
If anything here is unclear, contact hello@checkgp.co.uk.
1. About CheckGP
CheckGP is a directory of private general practitioner (“private GP”) clinics in London. It is operated by Great Offers Limited (company number 10866807, registered office 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ).
What CheckGP does:
- Lists private GP clinics in London with their names, addresses, opening hours, contact details, and prices.
- Surfaces public clinic regulatory information from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
- Surfaces public clinic reviews via the Google Places API.
- Provides filters and sorting so you can find clinics that match your needs (location, price, opening hours, type of consultation).
What CheckGP is not:
- A healthcare provider. We do not provide medical advice or treatment.
- A booking service. We do not take or process appointment requests.
- A clinical authority. We do not endorse or rank clinics on clinical quality.
- A national service. Our directory is limited to Greater London.
- A consultant directory. We organise around clinics, not individual named consultants.
2. Not medical advice
CheckGP is an information directory. Nothing on CheckGP is medical advice. Nothing on CheckGP is a substitute for professional clinical consultation, diagnosis, or treatment.
If you have a medical concern, contact a qualified healthcare professional. If your situation is urgent or life-threatening:
- Call 999 for an emergency ambulance, or
- Call NHS 111 for urgent but non-emergency medical advice, or
- Visit a hospital’s A&E department if appropriate.
You agree that any decision you make about your health, including whether to consult a particular clinic listed on CheckGP, is your decision and your responsibility.
3. Accuracy of information
We work hard to keep the information on CheckGP accurate and up to date:
- We verify clinic prices at the source on a weekly cycle.
- We refresh CQC ratings on a monthly cycle, directly from the CQC public API.
- We refresh Google reviews within Google’s required window.
- We provide a “Spotted an error?” link on every clinic page so users can flag corrections, which we review and act on.
Despite this, you accept that:
- Prices, opening hours, and availability information can change without notice. Always confirm with the clinic before relying on what you see on CheckGP.
- Filters such as “same-day availability” or “open now” are based on the clinic’s published information and are indicative only. Same-day availability in particular can change minute-to-minute.
- CQC inspection ratings are point-in-time assessments by a third-party regulator. Always read the full inspection report on cqc.org.uk for context.
- Google reviews are the personal opinions of the reviewers, not CheckGP’s. We display reviews in the order Google returns them and do not selectively curate.
We do not warrant that the information on CheckGP is complete, accurate, or current. You use the site at your own risk in this respect.
4. Third-party content
CheckGP displays information from third parties. Their content is shown subject to their respective terms:
- CQC data is provided by the Care Quality Commission under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Every CQC mention on CheckGP links to the original source on cqc.org.uk.
- Google reviews and place data are provided via the Google Places API and are subject to the Google Maps Platform Terms. Each review displays the reviewer’s name and photo as provided by Google, alongside a link to view it on Google.
- Map tiles are provided by Mapbox and are subject to Mapbox’s terms.
CheckGP does not own this third-party content and is not responsible for its accuracy.
5. Featured listings and editorial independence
Some clinics on CheckGP carry a “Featured” badge. This means the clinic has a commercial relationship with CheckGP — they have chosen to subscribe to a paid listing tier.
We are transparent about this:
- The Featured badge is visible wherever a clinic appears, and you can tap or hover it to see a short explanation.
- Editorial rankings — such as “cheapest”, “open now”, “highest-rated” — ignore Featured status. They are based on the underlying data only.
- A clinic’s Featured status does not improve how it ranks on quality, price, or any other editorial criterion.
- A clinic cannot pay CheckGP to remove negative information about itself, alter its displayed price, hide its CQC rating, or suppress Google reviews.
- Premium status affects placement and presentation in unranked sections of the site (such as “Other clinics in this area”), and nothing more.
This is documented in full on /methodology.
6. User submissions
When you submit information to CheckGP — for example, by reporting a price correction or contacting us:
- You confirm that the information is, to your knowledge, accurate.
- You grant CheckGP a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, store, and act on the submission for the purposes of running the directory.
- You agree not to submit information that is defamatory, unlawful, infringing, or designed to harm a clinic, a doctor, or any other third party.
- We log your IP address with each submission for the purpose of preventing abuse. We rate-limit submissions to three per IP address per day.
- We do not auto-publish any user-submitted change. Every submission is reviewed against the source before it appears on the site.
We may decline to act on any submission at our discretion.
7. Acceptable use
You agree to use CheckGP only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe the rights of, restrict, or inhibit anyone else’s use of the site.
You agree not to:
- Use automated systems (such as scrapers, bots, or crawlers) to extract data from CheckGP, except for well-behaved search engine indexing in line with our robots.txt directives.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to extract the source code of the site.
- Submit information that is false, misleading, defamatory, obscene, hateful, infringing, or otherwise unlawful.
- Use the site to send unsolicited communications.
- Use the site in any way that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair our servers.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site, including the staff
/adminarea. - Frame, mirror, or republish substantial portions of CheckGP without our prior written permission.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the site if we reasonably believe you are in breach of these Terms.
8. Intellectual property
The CheckGP name, the site layout, the design system, the editorial text, and the underlying database structure are owned by Great Offers Limited or its licensors.
You may:
- Browse the site for your personal, non-commercial use.
- Share a link to a CheckGP page on social media, in an email, or in a personal message.
- Quote short factual excerpts (such as a clinic’s published price) for personal or journalistic use, provided you attribute CheckGP and link to the source page.
You may not, without our prior written permission:
- Copy, reproduce, or redistribute substantial portions of the site.
- Use CheckGP’s name, logo, or branding in a way that suggests endorsement of your product, service, or organisation.
CQC content is licensed separately under the Open Government Licence (see section 4). Google reviews remain the property of their authors and Google.
9. Clinic listings — removal
Clinic owners and authorised representatives may request the removal of their clinic from CheckGP. To do so:
- Email us at hello@checkgp.co.uk from a verifiable address linked to the clinic (for example, an email at the clinic’s own domain), confirming your authority to act on behalf of the clinic.
- We may ask for reasonable evidence of identity and authority — for example, confirmation via the clinic’s published phone number or website.
- Once verified, we will remove the clinic listing within 7 working days.
After removal, we may preserve the URL with a short note (“this clinic has chosen not to be listed”) to maintain link continuity for users who reach the page from search engines. No personal data is retained.
Where a clinic is publicly registered with the CQC, we may retain a minimal entry pointing to the CQC public record, on the basis of legitimate interest in operating a complete public directory of regulated private healthcare providers. We will consider any objection on a case-by-case basis.
The removal process is also documented on /methodology.
10. Premium clinic listings
If a clinic chooses to subscribe to a paid listing tier (“Featured”, “Enhanced”, or any tier we offer in future):
- Subscription terms are set out separately when you sign up, including the price, billing cycle, and cancellation rights.
- Payment is processed by Stripe; CheckGP does not hold card details.
- A subscription buys placement, presentation, and additional profile features. It does not buy editorial favour, the right to remove or alter factual information about the clinic, or any change to how the clinic ranks in editorial sections of the site.
- A clinic may cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle. Pro-rata refunds are not offered by default; we will consider exceptional circumstances on request.
Detailed clinic subscription terms will be published at /for-clinics/terms when paid tiers go live.
11. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes:
- Liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence;
- Liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- Liability under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 in respect of rights that cannot lawfully be excluded;
- Any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under UK law.
Subject to that:
- CheckGP is provided “as is” and “as available”. We make no warranties or representations about the site, the accuracy of the information shown, or its fitness for any particular purpose.
- We are not liable to you in contract, tort (including negligence), or otherwise for any indirect, consequential, special, or incidental loss, or for any loss of profit, loss of business, loss of goodwill, or loss of data, arising from your use of the site.
- Our total aggregate liability to you in connection with the site is limited to £100 if you are a free user, or to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the liability if you are a paying clinic customer.
- We are not responsible for the content, services, or actions of any clinic listed on CheckGP. Your decision to engage a clinic, and any consequences of that decision, are between you and the clinic.
12. Suspension, withdrawal, and changes to the site
We may, at our discretion and without notice:
- Suspend or withdraw all or any part of the site, temporarily or permanently.
- Add to, change, or remove features.
- Restrict access to registered or paying users only for certain features.
We will try to give reasonable notice of any material change that affects you, where it is practical to do so.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top and, where appropriate, give a more prominent notice. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised Terms.
A summary of material changes is logged below.
| Version | Date | Changes |
|---|---|---|
| 1.0 | 2 June 2026 | Initial publication. |
14. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or with your use of CheckGP, are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
You agree that the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any such dispute or claim.
15. Other
- Entire agreement. These Terms (together with the Privacy Policy and any clinic subscription terms, if applicable) form the entire agreement between you and CheckGP in relation to your use of the site.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce any right under these Terms on a particular occasion, that does not mean we waive the right to enforce it on another occasion.
- Severability. If any clause of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining clauses continue in full force.
- No third-party rights. Except as expressly stated, these Terms do not confer rights on anyone other than you and CheckGP under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
- Assignment. You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms. We may assign our rights to a successor business — for example, on a sale of the company — without your specific consent.
